Wayne "Opie" Abercrombie
Owner
As a third-generation crane operator, with 30 years’ experience, Wayne “Opie” Abercrombie knew when he was eight (8) years old that his life dream was to be a crane operator. He worked his way through all levels of the crane business. As a former Manager of a large crane company in Atlanta, he has developed and maintained lifelong customer relationships. He is known throughout the Southeast as a “go to” resource to consult and minimize potential liability exposure on job site incidents. As a safety solution specialist, he is certified with OSHA, NCCCO as well as an MSHA Instructor. Opie’s professional experience includes a diverse range of industry skills: Regional Sales/Business Account Manager, Signal Person, Rigger, Qualified Heavy Equipment Mechanic, Tower Crane Assembly/Disassembly, CDL Trainer, Heavy Haul Expert, Personnel/Material Hoisting, Critical Lift Management/Plans, and Industry Consultant. His love of cranes brought him to where he is today, developing business relationships and bringing an innovative approach to service American Crane Services’ customers.
James "Jim" Warrington
Founder
Jim is our seasoned crane veteran, as well as, a Native American Indian; he also served his country and was awarded several accolades for his service in the Vietnam War. Throughout his career he is known as a crane industry solution analyst, providing over 50 years of industry experience. As a second-generation crane specialist his successful management career includes crane company management and ownership (American Crane Services, Moody Machinery Corp, Alliance Crane Rental, among several others) inclusive of sales, rentals, erection, dismantle and transportation of cranes and construction equipment throughout the United States. Jim’s knowledge and skills are an invaluable asset to American Crane Services as indicated by his professional certifications in inspections and training. Jim has been a member of the Local 324 Operators-Engineers out of Detroit, MI for over 50 years.
Stephen Farris
CFO/Vice president
With over 25 years’ experience in the crane industry, Stephen has held several positions which attest to his diverse skills. (Lift Director, Dispatch Manager, Tower Crane Operator, Truck Cranes, Crawler Cranes, Boom Trucks, Inspector, etc.) He started off as a Tower Crane Operator working his way into mobile cranes. His passion for the crane business is shown by his multiple certifications on several platforms (TLL, TSS, LBT, LBC, TWR, STF, BTF, Lift Director, and Crane Inspector).
Formerly the Dispatch Manager/Lift Director for a large crane company in Atlanta, he trained and developed his staff to provide unparalleled customer service. As Stephen developed custom business solutions, he knew that his company needed a Lift Director; his lift plans gave the customer a 3D perspective of what their job entailed. These customized solutions gave them a cutting-edge advantage.
Mike "Mikey" Baldree
General Manager
Mike "Mikey" Baldree, a second-generation crane operator, brings over 46 years of experience in the crane industry. Beginning his career in the late 1970s with a major crane company in Tampa, Florida, he later relocated to Georgia and continued working in the crane industry under a different company. In 1983, Mikey joined a startup crane company as their third operator, where he honed his expertise in assembling, disassembling, and operating friction cranes such as Lorain, Link-Belt, Manitowoc, American, and Lima, as well as various tower cranes. Over the past 17 years, he has supervised multiple crews in tower crane erection and dismantling across the United States, from Miami, FL, to Rochester, NY, and Washington, D.C., to Denver, CO, earning a reputation for exceptional skill and leadership.
Throughout his career, Mikey has held roles including Branch Manager, Dispatcher, A/D Director, Safety Director, and NCCO Instructor. Certified as an NCCO Crane Operator since 1996 and OSHA-compliant, he is also highly trained in rigging, signaling, and crane inspections. Mikey has contributed as a consultant, expert witness, and innovator in developing safety tools for tower crane dismantlement and rigging assessments. With his extensive knowledge and dedication to safety, Mikey continues to be a trusted leader in the crane industry.
